     Special Item Disposal

Some items require special handling when they are being discarded.

​

Refrigerators, Freezers, Air Conditioning Units, Microwave ovens, Washers and Dryers  $20 per item

 For refrigerators, freezers and A/C units, these items contain freon and the freon must be evacuated prior to recycling. When loading the dumpster with these items, we request they be loaded last so we can separate it from the rest of the load when we deliver the items for recycling.

Tires $5 per tire, maximum of 5

Tires can be of any size but are limited to a maximum of 5 tires per dumpster

​

Box Springs & Mattresses $10 each

Mattresses and box springs can be of any size. Pro tip- load mattresses and box springs first lying them in the floor of the dumpster. This will give you more room to load the dumpster to its capacity

​

Paints, Aerosols, greases, adhesives, tars $3 per pound

This includes paint in gallon and quart cans, paint in aerosol cans. Other aerosol cans that contain chemicals are considered hazardous waste as well.

Electronics TV, Computers, Laptops, Copiers, Fax machines

Items such as TV's and computers contain metals that require special disposal. We also request these be loaded last so we can separate them from the rest of the load as well.

There are many items Sarasota and Manatee counties do not allow in bulk disposal such as our dumpsters. Scroll to the bottom of the page for a list of these items. They can be properly disposed of separately at the land fill and at chemical collection stations. If items are found in our dumpsters and we are fined by the county, we will in turn, bill you for adding prohibited items to the dumpster. Sarasota allows for disposal free of charge at their collection points. Here are the locations for proper disposal points.
